The Ambrado HC1602 high-performance CODEC hardware provides small footprint solution can dynamically switch between encoding and decoding processes providing the ability to deliver channel density and channel optimization for VOD purposes.
The resulting MPEG-2 transport stream output over ASI or IP can be multiplexed with other channels for distribution to customers. In some cases, the incoming program’s bit rate may unsuitable for multiplexing. This programming can be converted from ASI to SDI for encoding by the HC1602 outputting an acceptable bit rate to be multiplexed with other programs for delivery. For Constant Bit Rate (CBR) encoding to a single program transport stream, the HC1602 CODEC engine provides precise bit rate control to ensure stack programs will never exceed bandwidth constraints.
